Two reliable sources simultaneously reported that Apple plans to upgrade the cameras of future flagship products. The sources claim that the iPhone 18 Pro version will, for the first time, "catch up" with Android smartphones on a key rear camera feature.
According to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will feature main camera modules with variable apertures. This will allow the camera to control the amount of light reaching the image sensor. Many Android flagships already support this feature, but this will be the first time such a solution has been used in an Apple smartphone.
An insider at Digital Chat Station, citing supply chain sources, confirmed the news of camera upgrades in the new iPhones. However, the source only mentioned the iPhone 18 Pro Max in the report, adding that Apple will also increase the light sensitivity of the 48-megapixel sensor in the phone's zoom module.
