Grokipedia, an intelligent encyclopedia developed by Elon Musk's xAI, officially launched on Monday. Although the platform briefly crashed due to a surge in traffic, it is now operational again. Data on its homepage indicates that the platform now contains over 885,000 articles, marking another significant step for Musk in the field of AI knowledge.
As the project's initiator, Musk has publicly criticized Wikipedia for bias and stressed that Grokipedia is "a necessary step toward achieving xAI's goal of understanding the universe." This claim was refuted by Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales, who called the allegations "factually untrue." Notably, some content on the platform closely resembles Wikipedia, but uses a different citation format and includes a disclaimer at the end stating that it is adapted from Wikipedia.
Last week, Musk revealed that the project's launch was delayed due to the need to remove promotional content. With this launch, its AI-driven approach to knowledge presentation stands in stark contrast to Wikipedia's crowdsourcing model, sparking widespread discussion within the industry about knowledge production models.
