The Forza Horizon series, developed by Playground Games, is a beloved racing game franchise. Each installment chooses a location, allowing players to experience the diverse styles of different parts of the world. At Tokyo Game Show 2025 (TGS 2025) this September, Microsoft officially announced Forza Horizon 6, moving the setting from Mexico in the previous game to Japan. The game will launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X/S and PC, and will be available at launch on Game Pass.
According to Wccftech, Microsoft typically releases new Forza Horizon titles between September and November. However, this tradition may be broken next year, with Forza Horizon 6 being released earlier in the first half of 2026. Even so, this will be the longest gap between releases in the Forza Horizon series to date.
2026 is indeed a special year, for a simple reason: Rockstar Games' flagship sequel, *Grand Theft Auto VI*, has been officially announced for release on November 19, 2026. Almost all other AAA game developers are trying to avoid this release date to prevent impacting sales of their new titles.
Besides *Forza Horizon 6*, Playground Games has several other projects lined up, including another major title, *Fable*. Furthermore, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, revealed earlier this year that *Gears of War: Incident Day* and a remastered version of *Halo: Combat Evolved* will also be released in 2026.
