Google recently announced further restrictions on free user access to its latest AI tool, Gemini 3 Pro, and image generation tool, Nano Banana Pro. This adjustment stems from server capacity pressure caused by a surge in user demand. Since their launch, both tools have received widespread attention, with usage far exceeding expectations.
Initially, free Gemini 3 Pro users could send five prompts per day, consistent with the previous Gemini 2.5 Pro limit, while free Nano Banana Pro users could generate three images per day. However, as demand continues to climb, Google has reduced free access to "basic access." The "Think" feature limit for Gemini 3 Pro may fluctuate frequently, and the image generation limit has been tightened to two images per day, with the limit potentially being dynamically adjusted. Furthermore, the "Infographics" and "Slideshow Suite" features supported by Nano Banana Pro on the NotebookLM platform have been disabled for free users; Pro subscribers still have access, but face similar limitations.
Google stated that current demand far exceeds expectations, and the company is working diligently to alleviate capacity pressure, promising to restore service as soon as possible. It's worth noting that this adjustment does not affect the usage rights of Google AI Pro or Ultra subscribers. Free users will need to rethink their usage strategies to adapt to the new limits, and their experience may fluctuate further due to resource allocation issues.
