Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to the award-winning 2017 action-adventure game Hollow Knight, was officially released on September 4th, 2025 at 10 PM Beijing time. Players take on the role of Bumblebee, the guardian of Hallownest and a key character from the previous game, embarking on an adventure in Pharloom, a new kingdom ruled by silk and song. This is one of the most anticipated games of the year and one of the best titles of 2025, and three months after its release, the new game has already achieved success.
According to Wccftech, while some players might have thought that developer Team Cherry would take a break, they haven't. In a recent interview, Team Cherry stated that the development team is working on two fronts: developing DLC for Hollow Knight: Silksong and brainstorming new IPs for entirely new projects.
It is understood that the *Hollow Knight: Silksong* DLC includes promises made during the 2014 *Hollow Knight* crowdfunding campaign, which were forced to be shelved due to the project's overwhelming size. Several extension goals were set at the time, and these are currently underway, with the project leader promising to "fulfill all obligations." In the previous game, Team Cherry introduced a challenging Boss Rush mode through the "Godmaster" DLC; perhaps the *Hollow Knight: Silksong* DLC will also feature a similar approach in response to player demand.
Regarding the new game, Team Cherry didn't reveal much, admitting that each project can take seven years or even longer, with many unpredictable aspects. The development team hopes to explore a wider range of possibilities within the limited time available. Its core design philosophy remains unchanged, including "exploring a vast world filled with strange characters and challenging giant bosses."
