Sony China announced yesterday via its official Bilibili account that it will hold a new product launch event for the Sony α series on December 2nd at 10 PM, where the highly anticipated Alpha 7 V full-frame mirrorless camera is expected to be unveiled. According to a leak from Sony Alpha Rumors, the new camera will feature a 33-megapixel partially stacked CMOS sensor and support a pre-shooting mode, allowing the camera to capture images before the user presses the shutter button, significantly improving the success rate of shots in scenarios such as sports photography and wildlife photography.
In terms of performance, the Alpha 7 V supports 30FPS high-speed continuous shooting in 14-bit RAW format in electronic shutter mode and 10FPS in mechanical shutter mode. The autofocus system can perform 60 calculations per second, and sources describe its performance as "excellent." Furthermore, the new camera features 8-stop 5-axis image stabilization, 4K 60P uncropped video recording capability, and the same AI chip as the A1 II, but unfortunately, it may not support the Open Gate function. Other specifications include a 3.2-inch multi-angle tilting touchscreen, dual SD + CFExpress Type-A card slots, and an upgraded 5.6 million-dot EVF electronic viewfinder. The body design is similar to the Alpha 7R V, and the expected price is around $3,000 (approximately RMB 21,274).
The launch event may also see the release of several new lenses, including a 100-400mm f/4.0 GM, a 100-400mm G (variable aperture), and a mysterious ultra-wide-angle f/2.0 G Master zoom lens. Sony's α series has always been known for its technological innovation, and the release of the Alpha 7 V will further solidify its competitiveness in the mid-to-high-end mirrorless market. More details will be revealed at the December 2nd launch event.
