There are already more than 10 patients who have received Neuralink implants. And those who can't move their arms or legs, in some cases, are completely 'closed off,' like Stephen Hawking. And the speed at which they can communicate now, I think, is as fast as we communicate now, or almost as fast. That's really cool, and this trend will continue to accelerate."
In a post this September, Musk revealed that 12 patients worldwide have already received Neuralink implants.

Musk said, "Imagine a world where everyone has access to the best surgeons—literally everyone. Optimus Prime will possess superhuman precision, capable of performing extremely complex surgeries, any type of surgery, even those currently impossible for humans, and all of this will be open to everyone. People often talk about eliminating poverty and providing quality healthcare, but they never really find the solutions. Money can't solve this problem because the number of good doctors and surgeons is limited; they don't appear out of thin air. But they (robots) are mass-produced in factories."
Musk responded to the post, saying, "Incredible healthcare for everyone!"
