MSI has added a new motherboard, the MAG B850 TOMAHAWK WIFI, to its product catalog. The new version does not include the MAX suffix. While it differs from the older model in its cooling system design and interface specifications, it remains well-suited for building gaming PCs based on Ryzen 9000 series processors.
The MAG B850 TOMAHAWK WIFI motherboard is an ATX form factor motherboard with a 14+2+1 phase power design. The CPU power supply uses an 80A DrMOS stage and includes two 8-pin EPS power connectors. In terms of appearance, the only difference between it and the MAX version is the reduced area of the VRM heatsink, but there are other differences in specifications:
Lower maximum memory frequency (DDR5-8200 for the MAX version, and DDR5-8400 for the DDR5-8400 version);
Only two PCIe x16 slots instead of three;
Three M.2 slots instead of four, with only one PCIe 5 interface used; Fewer high-speed USB ports.
The motherboard still features four DIMM slots and supports overclocking.
The I/O panel features two USB Type-C ports (20 Gbps and 10 Gbps), four USB Type-A ports (two 10 Gbps and two 5 Gbps), one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI 2.1 FRL port for integrated graphics, and a Wi-Fi antenna connector.
The release date and price of this new product, positioned as a mid-budget gaming device, will be announced later.
