Lexar has added a portable solid-state drive (SSD) called the Air to its product line. Designed for smartphones and PCs, this new product is available in 512GB and 1TB capacities and boasts an ultra-thin design, weighing only 19 grams.
The Lexar Air features a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C interface (5 Gbps) and rated sequential read/write speeds of up to 390 MB/s and 400 MB/s, respectively. The thickness varies depending on the measurement point.
To optimize power consumption, the SSD is equipped with a dedicated controller. According to the manufacturer, this controller prevents the drive from overheating and maintains stable data transfer speeds even during extended use.
The Lexar Air is compatible with Android and iOS devices (iOS 17+, Android 10+), as well as Windows 11/10/8/7 and macOS 14+. It also comes with a dedicated app for backing up photos and videos. This rugged SSD casing can withstand drops from up to two meters and features a lanyard or carabiner on top.
The Lexar Air is now available in China, in blue and black, with the 1TB version priced at $64. The 512GB version will be available later.
