Analysis indicates that the Huawei Mate 80 standard version focuses on "affordability" and making core technologies accessible to everyone, such as the Kirin 9030 chip, a 6000mAh battery, and a flat screen design. The starting price is expected to be controlled below 5500 yuan (as the blogger described it as "affordable"), aiming to lower the barrier to entry for users of the HarmonyOS system and accelerate the conversion of ecosystem users. The Pro+ version, on the other hand, focuses on stacking cutting-edge technologies, including a dual-layer OLED screen, satellite communication, and an enhanced imaging system, with a price reaching the 8500 yuan range, competing with rivals such as the Apple iPhone 17 Pro.
Previous supply chain reports indicated that Huawei intended to control the supply of the Pro version, allocating resources to the standard and Pro+ versions to optimize production capacity allocation and mitigate component shortage risks. This strategy is largely consistent with the Mate 70 series, reflecting Huawei's dual-pronged approach of "large-scale popularization" and "leading with cutting-edge technology" in the high-end market.
By flexibly adjusting its product matrix, Huawei can improve shipment stability while strengthening its brand's technological image. With the Mate 80 series' launch approaching (likely later this month), its market performance will serve as a barometer for observing the supply and demand strategies of domestic high-end smartphones and the progress of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
