On November 3, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman discussed Apple Intelligence's entry into China in his Power On newsletter. He stated that although Apple originally planned to launch its AI feature, "Apple Intelligence," in the Chinese market by mid-2025, it has yet to deliver.
Gurman pointed out that the overall development process of Apple Intelligence faced technical challenges, including engineering issues and poor model performance, and its deployment in China is even more complex. Gurman previously wrote that Apple had planned to partner with other local partners, such as Alibaba, to launch the service by mid-2025, but this clearly failed to materialize. "Now, the release date is an uncertain target."
Gurman reiterated that Apple's original goal was to include the feature in iOS 26.1 or iOS 26.2, but these upcoming or already released versions do not yet include Apple Intelligence. He stated that Apple has now set its latest target at iOS 26.4, at which time it plans to launch a new generation of Siri voice assistant, but currently no Apple employee can guarantee that it will be released on schedule.
