On November 4th, according to a press release issued by the parties involved on November 3rd (US time), Microsoft signed multi-year contracts for NVIDIA AI chip computing power with two AI cloud service providers, IREN and Lambda, with the two deals totaling over $10 billion.
Under the agreement between Microsoft and IREN, IREN will provide Microsoft with a five-year license to use NVIDIA GB300 GPUs, with a total contract value of approximately $9.7 billion, of which 20% is an upfront payment. IREN also reached an agreement with Dell to purchase GPUs and related equipment for approximately $5.8 billion.
IREN will deploy 750MW of GPU capacity at its Childress, Texas campus by 2026, in addition to delivering a 200MW liquid-cooled data center for critical IT workloads.
In another multi-billion dollar deal, Lambda will deploy AI infrastructure for Microsoft powered by tens of thousands of NVIDIA GPUs, including NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 rack-mount systems.
