Internet users have once again proven that creativity in the realm of electronics is virtually limitless. A Reddit user has created a miniature camera to take pictures using the optical sensor of a regular computer mouse.
The project's creator, Dycus, used an older ADNS-3090 sensor, which can only capture monochrome images with a resolution of 30x30 pixels. Despite its limited specifications, it achieves multiple shooting modes: panorama mode, color filters, and even allows users to "draw" images directly on the built-in display with the mouse.
The camera body is manufactured using 3D printing technology, and the designer installed a 32KB hard drive inside, capable of storing up to 48 photos. A small battery provides several hours of battery life, and photos can be transferred to a computer after shooting.
In the discussion, users also recalled other unusual homemade cameras, including a project that used a DRAM chip as an image sensor.
