Microsoft's situation has been less than ideal in recent years—competitors have been gradually eroding its user base, and tariffs have negatively impacted profits. In short, things are dire—but that hasn't stopped Phil Spencer, president of Microsoft Games, from enjoying the latest video games.
In an interview with the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Spencer was asked about his most anticipated games of 2025. He listed six:
Shadow Light: The 33rd Expedition
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound
Death Stranding 2: The Beach
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
Doom: Dark Ages
The businessman also pointed out that of all the popular games, Shadow Light: The 33rd Expedition is the most deserving of the "Game of the Year" title. Many agree. For example, Naoki Hamaguchi, game director of Final Fantasy VII Remake, also believes Shadow Light deserves the top prize because it's a "great video game."
