Intel has confirmed that Jim Johnson, General Manager of the Client Computing Group (CCG), will highlight the next-generation Intel PCs, edge solutions, and the AI experiences brought by the Core Ultra (3rd generation) processor, codenamed Panther Lake, at the CES 2026 event on January 5th at 3 PM Pacific Time (January 6th at 7 AM Beijing Time).
According to TECHPOWERUP, John Pitzer, Intel's Vice President of Corporate Planning and Investor Relations, stated that the yield rate of Intel's 18A process is currently improving at a rate of 7% per month. This growth rate is in line with industry expectations for a healthy ramp-up, and Panther Lake is also on this curve, giving Intel confidence in mass production.
John Pitzer also mentioned the development status of Intel's 14A process, believing that its progress at the same development stage is better than that of the Intel 18A process. This means that Intel can obtain earlier, more, and more comprehensive feedback from external customers, and the Intel 14A PDK is also more mature and better aligned with customers' development paths. Intel transitioned from FinFET to Gate All Around transistors in the Intel 18A and added rear-side power supply, evolving to its second-generation technology with the Intel 14A.
According to previous reports, Intel considers 2026 a crucial year for its manufacturing technology, determining whether it is ready to advance the next-generation Intel 14A process. According to Intel CFO Dave Zinsner, Intel will only invest in Intel 14A production capacity if it receives commitments from external customers.
