In September of this year, Apple just released the AirPods Pro 3, but CNMO noted that, according to supply chain sources, Apple has already begun developing the next-generation AirPods Pro, expected to launch in 2026.
Analysts generally believe that the next-generation AirPods Pro will likely be an upgrade to the existing AirPods Pro 3, similar to the strategy of the AirPods Pro 2 receiving improvements such as a USB-C charging case a year after its release without changing its name.
It is understood that the next-generation AirPods Pro will be equipped with Apple's self-developed H3 wireless audio chip. Compared to the H2 chip used in the current AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3, the H3 chip is expected to deliver superior sound quality and lower audio latency, further enhancing the wireless listening experience. The introduction of the H3 chip is also seen as an important step in Apple's continuous optimization in the field of wireless audio technology.
Another highly anticipated upgrade is that the new headphones may be equipped with a miniature infrared camera. Ming-Chi Kuo previously revealed that AirPods equipped with infrared cameras may support "air gesture control," allowing users to adjust volume and control playback via gestures, but he did not elaborate on the specific implementation. Furthermore, Kuo predicts that the next-generation AirPods Pro will enhance integration with Apple Vision Pro, providing users with a more seamless cross-device experience.
Gurman further points out that these infrared cameras may also support AI-like functions similar to those found in iPhone 15 Pro and later models, such as real-time environmental awareness and enhanced voice interaction.
