OnePlus unveiled OxygenOS 16, a custom user interface based on Android 16. Its development focused on artificial intelligence capabilities and expanded integration of OnePlus devices into the Apple ecosystem.
OxygenOS 16 makes extensive use of the Gemini neural network. Specifically, the firmware features the Plus Mind tool for storing and organizing user data, and a new Collections feature for automatically curating photo collections across various categories.
OxygenOS 16 introduces voice memo transcription and summarization features, AI-powered contextual search, and a new tool for enhancing scanned photos before converting them to PDFs.
Other new features include YumSee (which creates dish images from menu scans) and Party Up (which turns photos into short videos). Furthermore, OnePlus smartphones will use AI to improve the quality of photos taken in low light. All of these tools are currently in testing.
The O+ Connect feature promises convenient file sharing, including from an iPhone, and the ability to mirror the screen of OnePlus devices to a Windows PC or Mac. And "Remote Control," as the name suggests, allows you to remotely control your computer from your smartphone or tablet. Finally, fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the ability to pair with an Apple Watch via the OHealth app.
The company also claims to have achieved smoother animations and improved multitasking performance thanks to Parallel Processing 2.0. Firmware rollout for compatible devices will begin soon.
