Ahead of Wi-Fi 8 (IEEE 802.11bn) certification, Zhonghui Electronics announced the launch of its first router supporting next-generation wireless networks. While the router has not yet entered production, some of its specifications are known.
According to a Zhonghui Electronics press release, the device, which the company calls a "Wi-Fi 8 platform," is based on the latest Broadcom BCM6718 chip (4x4 MIMO, 320 MHz, with specifications up to 11.5 Gbps). The router reportedly supports intelligent spectrum management and has built-in machine learning tools.
Wi-Fi 8 is a strategic enabler for operators looking to differentiate through user experience rather than simply throughput. We are proud to be one of the first OEMs to partner with Broadcom to offer Wi-Fi 8 connectivity solutions. Together, we provide operators with a one-stop platform that integrates next-generation connectivity, smart home management, and edge computing into a single device.
The new device also supports the Matter protocol and FTTR (fiber to the wire) technology for smart home integration. It's unclear when the device will be available, but Wi-Fi 8 certification is expected to take place in September 2028.
