Windows 10 support is about to end. A possible solution is updating the OS, but a popular method for upgrading without reinstalling it has unexpectedly stopped working. However, those who want to upgrade still have an alternative way to migrate to Windows 11 while preserving their data.
Until recently, installing Windows 11 over Windows 10 was relatively quick and easy using the official Media Creation Tool. However, industry media have noted that the latest version, version 26100.6584, has begun interrupting this process for no apparent reason.
According to Microsoft's explanation, the problem is on their end. The company acknowledged that the application may close unexpectedly without displaying any error messages, but did not specify why.
Alternatively, you can use a Windows 11 ISO image to manually create a bootable USB drive (for example, using Rufus or Ventoy). You can download the official image from the Microsoft website in the "Downloads" section. After this, during the installation process you will need to select the option “Keep files, settings, and apps” or “Keep only my personal files”.
