Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman published an insider report on the next generation of Apple wireless earbuds. He claims the upcoming new product will feature at least two key differences from the current model.
According to the journalist, Apple is already developing the H3 audio chip with improved sound quality and lower latency for the next-generation earbuds. However, it is still unclear whether the new earbuds will carry the number 4 in their name or whether the company will market them as an updated version of the AirPods Pro 3.
Gurman also confirmed industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's earlier statement that the AirPods Pro will receive a major hardware upgrade next year, specifically the addition of an infrared sensor. This sensor is expected to be used for skin temperature measurement and gesture recognition, including when paired with the Vision Pro headset.
Furthermore, Kuo previously reported that the new AirPods Max will enter mass production in 2027. Apple itself, as per established tradition, did not comment on the insider publications.
