Xiaomi has released the Smart Door Lock 4 Pro Dual Camera Edition, a new version of its smart door lock. Its main feature is the addition of a second camera for improved visibility in video intercom mode.
The device features two external image sensors: a primary 3-megapixel sensor with a 160° field of view; and a secondary 2-megapixel sensor with a 128° field of view. According to the manufacturer, this configuration not only allows for a clear view of people at the door, but also allows for the identification of items on the floor (e.g., packages left behind by a courier).
The device features a built-in 940 nm infrared LED, enabling clear vision even in the dark. You can monitor what's happening outside your apartment via the 3.97-inch display.
The lock supports 12 different door opening methods, including contactless palm vein recognition with a 0.001% error rate, an NFC chip, and tamper-resistant facial recognition using photos, videos, or masks.
The camera feed can be displayed on a compatible TV if desired. Furthermore, the lock integrates into the smart home ecosystem and supports a variety of scenarios. If an attempted intrusion is detected, the camera feed is copied to the cloud. The lock can also use millimeter-wave radar to detect the presence of people near the door.
This new product is currently available for pre-order on the Xiaomi Youpin platform for $407. The specific release date will be announced later.
