Game Science announced yesterday that its popular game, Black Myth: Wukong, will receive a major update starting October 13th. This update includes not only standard bug fixes but also in-depth performance optimizations. Of note, due to the extensive underlying changes, the patch file size for the PS5 platform is exceptionally large, estimated to occupy approximately 93.5GB of storage space. Players are advised to reserve sufficient space in advance.
This update comes just two months after Game Science announced its new game, Black Myth: Zhong Kui. At Gamescom on August 20th, company founder and CEO Feng Ji explained why they chose to develop the new game first rather than DLC for Black Myth: Wukong. He explained that the team underwent a significant adjustment period after the game's release. While DLC was a safe option, the team was more eager to showcase innovation through a completely new title—including new heroes, new gameplay, a new visual style, and new technology. This "starting from scratch" approach ultimately led to the development of Black Myth: Zhong Kui.
A milestone in Chinese AAA gaming, "Black Myth: Wukong" has taken the global gaming market by storm since its release on PS5, Steam, Epic, and WeGame platforms on August 20, 2024, topping sales charts on multiple platforms. Its sophisticated production and unique Eastern aesthetic have sparked widespread discussion on social media. This performance optimization update is expected to further enhance the gaming experience of this phenomenal title, bringing players smoother combat and more detailed visuals.
