Telegram releases major update with "glass" design

Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced a major update for the messaging app on his birthday. The update includes dozens of new features, including group call comments, contact notes, and a fresh new design inspired by iOS 26.

One key change is the iOS app's redesign, which features a "liquid glass" aesthetic. The interface now features transparent elements with a light-reflecting effect, particularly noticeable when scrolling, and all panels and keyboards now have a gentle gradient. Telegram emphasized that the interface will be updated as iOS 26 evolves to fully align with Apple's visual design. Furthermore, the new interface will also be available on older versions of iOS.

Other Telegram changes:

Comments and reactions in group calls – Participants can leave text messages and emojis directly during a call; these messages appear on everyone's screen for a few seconds.
Contact notes – You can now add personal notes visible only to you: where you met, what this person does for a job, and more. Suggest Birthday - You can now suggest your conversation partner to include their birthday so others can congratulate them and send them gifts.
New Profile Settings - You can change your profile design, including your background and the graphics for received gifts, directly in Settings.
Topics and Streaming Responses for AI Bots - Chats with bots can now be categorized by topic, and neural network responses are displayed incrementally in real time.
The updated gifting interface now displays all gifts in a single list, and collection upgrades are now more clearly visible with a timer for price drops.
Remove Gift Signature - You can remove the sender's name or personal information in exchange for Telegram Stars.
Blockchain-enabled gifts can now be stored on the Fragment platform and displayed directly on your profile.
