Ferrari has released the first details of its first electric car, the Elettrica. The company promises it will have all the bells and whistles of a Ferrari. Notably, the car's design was overseen by LoveFrom, the studio founded by former Apple Chief Design Officer Jony Ive.
The Elettrica will have four electric motors mounted beneath its body, one for each wheel, with a combined output exceeding 1,000 horsepower. This arrangement enables the traction control system to distribute torque more precisely.
The electric car will feature active suspension, capable of instantly adjusting the stiffness and ground clearance of each wheel. This technology was first used in the Purosangue and F80 supercars. Engineers paid particular attention to optimizing the sound.
Rather than using artificial effects, Ferrari uses accelerometers within the electric motors that detect actual vibrations and amplify them through a digital amplifier, much like an electric guitar through a combo amp.
The Ferrari Elettrica will have a range exceeding 530 kilometers and be powered by a 122-kilowatt battery. The supercar is expected to be officially unveiled in 2026.
