Shortly before its release, OnePlus revealed details about its OxygenOS 16 firmware, based on Android 16. On its official microsite dedicated to the release of the new operating system, the manufacturer showcased its interface design and outlined some of its features.
OxygenOS 16 will feature improved multitasking. Specifically, users will be able to seamlessly switch between playing Battle for India (BGMI) at a 120Hz refresh rate and recording their screen while making a call.
The company also promises zero lag when switching apps on the OnePlus Pad 3. Users will be able to open up to five apps in multi-window mode, resize them by pulling the bottom left corner, and switch between apps with a simple swipe.
The firmware also allows you to drag and drop files and mirror your smartphone's screen to a PC running macOS or Windows, as well as sync your branded device with Apple Watch and iPhone, as well as OnePlus tablets and smartphones.
In the new version of OxygenOS, app icons will become round, and widgets will become square. The Photos app will also be redesigned with elements inspired by Apple's Liquid Glass, while the Notes and Weather apps will receive animations and UI updates. Finally, OxygenOS 16 will introduce OnePlus AI and Gemini AI features.
The upcoming OnePlus 15 will be one of the first phones to receive the new firmware version. OxygenOS 16 will be released on October 16th.
