Time magazine released its list of the best inventions of 2025, with Honor being the only brand to win two awards in the smartphone category. The company was recognized for its development of a novel silicon-carbon battery design and a deepfake detection system.
The first award recognized Honor's development of a novel silicon-carbon battery design designed to replace traditional lithium-ion batteries. Honor claims this design increases battery capacity and battery life without increasing the thickness of the device. Following last year's introduction of a battery with a 10% silicon content, Honor has now released an upgraded version with a 25% silicon content, boasting a capacity of 6100 mAh and a thickness of just 2.3 mm.
This new battery was already featured in the Honor Magic V5, released in July of this year. In the future, the brand plans to incorporate similar batteries into other devices, including wearables and laptops.
The second award was given for the anti-deepfake technology used in the company's flagship models, including the Magic 7 Pro. The system analyzes videos directly on the device to identify signs of forgery, such as dropped frames or unnatural facial movements. The feature works not only on the company's mobile app, but also on popular messaging apps like WeChat, WhatsApp, Messenger and TikTok, as well as short video services like Douyin and Bilibili.
