The Honor X9d looks like any other smartphone—slim and minimalist, with no hint of ruggedness. But its construction is actually built to withstand a variety of extreme conditions, including immersion and drops. This is precisely what Russian enthusiasts decided to test before the new phone's release.
During the test, they lifted the smartphone 350 meters into the air using a hot air balloon and dropped it directly into the Moscow Canal. Upon impact, the phone sank to the seabed, but was quickly recovered by divers using GPS.
The results surprised even the testers: the Honor X9d was not only undamaged, but also fully functional—with no cracks on the display or damage to the exterior. The full test video can be viewed here.
The phone features a shockproof casing certified to four standards: IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. This means the smartphone can withstand not only drops but also immersion in hot water (up to 85°C) and high-pressure jets.
This model also features an 8,300 mAh battery (a record for battery capacity in Honor phones) and 66W fast charging. In terms of performance, it's powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits. The main camera is a 108 MP sensor with 4K video recording support.
According to current information, the Honor X9d will go on sale in Russia on October 13th, with the 8GB+256GB version priced at 33,999 rubles.
