Microsoft's cloud computing division, Azure, announced today the launch of the world's first production-grade NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 supercomputing cluster. NDv6 GB300 VMs based on this cluster will run OpenAI workloads.
The Microsoft Azure cluster consists of 4,608 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs. These GPUs are housed in 64 liquid-cooled GB300 NVL72 rack systems, interconnected by NVIDIA Quantum-X800 InfiniBand high-speed interconnects, providing 800 Gb/s of bandwidth per GPU. Microsoft also announced plans to deploy hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs in its global AI data centers.
