Great Wall Motors has unveiled details of three new hybrid platforms developed for its WEY and Tank models: the Hi4, Hi4-Z, and Hi4-T. These all-wheel-drive systems combine powerful internal combustion engines with electric motors, each tailored for a specific vehicle type, ranging from urban crossovers to heavy-duty SUVs.
The Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent All-Wheel Drive) system, designed specifically for WEY crossovers, combines an internal combustion engine with two electric motors. It supports nine operating modes and delivers a combined output of up to 440 horsepower. The intelligent all-wheel-drive system intelligently distributes torque between axles, improving efficiency and enhancing handling on any road surface.
The Hi4-Z platform, designed specifically for heavy-duty SUVs, combines an internal combustion engine with two electric motors, each driving a different axle. Combined output reaches 972 horsepower, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in approximately 4 seconds. An integrated 59 kWh battery provides up to 200 km of pure electric range. This powertrain will be used in the top-of-the-line Tank SUV.
The Hi4-T system offers the most impressive off-road performance. Designed specifically for off-road driving, it combines a gasoline engine and an electric motor to produce 517 horsepower. The torque-on-demand all-wheel drive system features three mechanical locks, allowing torque to be transferred to any wheel. 2H, 4H, 4L, and AWD modes allow it to adapt to any off-road conditions. This technology is the foundation of the new Tank 700, Tank 500 Urban, and Tank 500 Hi-Charge models currently available in Russia.
Great Wall Motors also emphasized that both the WEY and Tank hybrid models utilize ternary lithium-ion batteries from CATL and Honeycomb Energy. These batteries feature quadruple protection and liquid cooling to effectively withstand impact, moisture, and temperature fluctuations. They not only ensure power and a pure electric range of up to 200 kilometers, but also offer exceptional safety.
