Huawei announced its achievements in high-bandwidth 5G-Advanced (5G-A, or 5.5G) networks. The company has released a preliminary roadmap for deploying the updated communications standard.
Huawei predicts that by the end of 2025, the number of users with 5G-A smartphones will exceed 100 million, and the number of such large-scale networks will reach at least 50. These figures, in turn, should attract investment in the new communications standard.
The company noted that its technology is designed to support large numbers of low-latency connections and is focused on real-time artificial intelligence workloads.
According to a Huawei representative, by 2030, artificial intelligence applications will nearly replace traditional mobile software, making high-speed mobile communications more ubiquitous. The company expects the number of active devices supporting neural network capabilities to exceed 400 million by the end of this year.
China is expected to make the fastest progress due to favorable regulatory and manufacturing conditions there. In other countries, the deployment of 5.5G networks will depend on the level of support other companies provide to Huawei's ecosystem.
