many recent computers run windows 11 smoothly, but not all users have experienced the speed of this os. microsoft has recognized this and recently updated its official system optimization guide.

the content of the guide is not new. for example, it recommends that developers regularly update the os and drivers, automatically manage the size of the paging file, and ensure that the system drive does not become completely full.

however, microsoft also points out windows 10/11 features that can have a significant impact on os performance. these include file synchronization via onedrive and visual effects (animations of windows and the taskbar, icon and mouse pointer effects, etc.). according to microsoft, disabling these options can speed up performance even on computers with limited memory.
