this year, rumors spread online that samsung would discontinue the "plus" version of its flagship smartphone, the s26. however, according to reports from korean media, this device is expected to continue appearing in the 2026 product line, and the reason for this is quite simple.
according to a report by the elec citing an insider source, samsung intends to reconsider its decision to completely replace the "plus" version with a slim model bearing the edge prefix.
according to sources, the 2026 lineup will include four types of smartphones. the company planned to release smartphones with the code names m1 (basic), m2 (edge), and m3 (ultra) in the first half of this year, but recently instructed employees to develop a device with the code name "m plus".
the newspaper cited the poor sales of the s25 edge model as the reason for the decision, reporting that production numbers "dropped sharply after june". the plan is to reduce production to 300,000 units by the end of the year, compared to 500,000 units of the s25+ produced during the same period last year.
according to sources, the edge series will not disappear from the market, but it will not replace the plus version. samsung has not yet commented on the elec's report.
