Xiaomi Mi 17 Pro series debuts the Shadow Hunter 950L sensor, codenamed the King of Backlight

On September 24th, Xiaomi officially announced that its new flagship Xiaomi 17 Pro series, codenamed "King of Backlight," will be released at 7 PM on the 25th and will debut the Light Hunter 950L sensor.

Xiaomi officially stated that the Light Hunter 950L sensor supports the next-generation LOFIC technology. This technology expands the charge storage capacity of each pixel by adding lateral overflow integrating capacitors, directly increasing the range of light that can be captured in a single exposure. Its 16.5EV ultra-high dynamic range means that both highlight details and shadow information can be preserved in backlit scenes. Combined with its "optical coating grand slam," the new sensor will significantly improve ghosting, fogging, and flare suppression.

A digital blogger claims that in addition to debuting the Light Hunter 950L, the Xiaomi 17 Pro series will also feature a 17mm 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The blogger also stated that the LightHunter 950L sensor is likely the CIS with the highest dynamic range currently available. The previous sensor is the one-inch SC5AOCS, which supports a dynamic range of 16EV.

CNMO also learned that the Xiaomi 17 Pro series introduces a "Magic Back Screen" design, replacing the entire rear camera module with a functional secondary screen. This back screen displays the time, notifications, personalized graphics, and serves as a viewfinder for rear-facing selfies. Furthermore, the Xiaomi 17 series will be the world's first to be equipped with Qualcomm's fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform. Geekbench test data shows that the Xiaomi 17 series equipped with this platform has a multi-core score of nearly 12,000 points and a single-core score of over 3,800 points, potentially competing with Apple's A19 series chipset.
