On the occasion of September's Patch Day, Microsoft also delivered another update to Windows 10. In addition to the classic security updates, Microsoft also released three so-called dynamic updates for older generations of the operating system.
Recovery Environment Gets Updates
So, Microsoft deserves praise for continuing to keep the Windows 10 Recovery Environment updated, which is very important for many users who plan to continue using Windows 10 after October 2025. The new updates improve the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), an emergency environment used in the event of startup problems or for repair measures:
These dynamic Windows 10 updates begin with
KB5065918 for Windows 10 version 1809 and Windows Server 2019.
KB5065307 for version 1607 and Windows Server 2016.
Finally, KB5065845 updates the first Windows 10 version, version 1507.
No separate Setup/SafeOS updates required.
The installer or SafeOS updates (usually included in the Dynamic Package) are missing this time. Microsoft is focusing on the recovery environment. These updates aim to fix bugs in recovery, improve stability, and ensure that language packs or optional features are properly applied during the upgrade process.
Microsoft hasn't released much information about the update's contents yet, but this is not uncommon. Despite this, we still recommend that all users install the update as soon as possible. If more information about the update's contents is released soon, we will update it promptly.
The new recovery update will be distributed automatically through Windows Update as usual, but it can also be downloaded manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog or applied using the Server Update Service.
