Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra gets a major memory upgrade: 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X memory

According to recent leaks, Samsung's next-generation flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra will achieve a major breakthrough in memory performance. Well-known leaker Ice Universe revealed that the model will be equipped with Micron's latest LPDDR5X memory, boasting speeds of up to 10.7Gbps, a significant improvement over the S25 Ultra's 9.6Gbps, setting a new benchmark for smartphone performance.

This significant improvement is due to Micron's innovative 1γ DRAM architecture technology. Compared to the previous-generation 1β architecture, 1γ technology not only increases bit density by 30%, reduces power consumption by 20%, and increases speed by 15%, significantly optimizing energy efficiency while maintaining high performance. This means users will experience unprecedented smoothness during demanding tasks like gaming or switching between multiple apps, without significantly compromising battery life.

While this improvement may be subtle in everyday use, the benefits will be significantly noticeable in professional scenarios. Gamers can expect more stable frame rates and faster load times, while multitasking users will find app switching more seamless. Notably, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will also be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip. This processor, built on TSMC's 3nm process, boasts single-core performance exceeding 4,000 points and multi-core performance exceeding 11,000 points. Combined with the Adreno 840 GPU, it delivers approximately 30% better overall performance than its predecessor.

Samsung has been continuously strengthening the AI capabilities of its devices in recent years, and this memory upgrade will provide even stronger support for these AI features. Galaxy AI, based on OneUI 8 and Android 16, will reportedly be available on 400 million devices, providing practical features like smart selfies and instant translation. This performance beast is expected to be released at the end of January 2026, with official sales starting in early February, ushering in a new wave of technological innovation in the high-end smartphone market.
