According to foreign media reports, Xiaomi is continuously strengthening its system update support policy, providing up to six years of security updates for several of its smartphones and tablets.
Currently, devices confirmed to support six years of security updates include the Xiaomi Mi 15, Mi 15 Ultra, Mi Pad 7, Mi Pad 7 Pro, POCO F7 series (including F7, F7 Pro, and F7 Ultra), and the REDMI Note 14 (4G). This means that these devices will continue to receive security patches for six years after launch to address emerging system vulnerabilities and cyber threats, protecting user data. While security updates do not include new features or interface changes, they are crucial for device stability and security.
Furthermore, these devices will receive a total of four major operating system upgrades. For example, the upcoming HyperOS 3 system update, based on Android 16, will bring numerous new features and performance optimizations to these devices, ensuring a modern user experience.
Currently, most Android phone manufacturers typically only provide three to four years of security support, with only a few brands offering more than five years of system update support.
Analysts point out that Xiaomi's move not only enhances the appeal of its flagship products, but also benefits mid-range models such as the Redmi Note 14 (4G) and POCO F7 series, bringing them to flagship levels in terms of software support. This helps extend the life of devices, reduce electronic waste, and enhance consumer trust and loyalty to the brand.
