Samsung launches Micro RGB, setting a new benchmark for high-end display technology


Samsung Electronics recently unveiled the world's first Micro RGB, a groundbreaking application of micron-scale RGB LED backlighting technology to an ultra-large 115-inch screen. This technology sets a new benchmark for color accuracy, contrast, and immersive viewing in the ultra-premium TV segment.

Samsung Micro RGB utilizes proprietary Micro RGB technology, employing an ultra-fine array of red, green, and blue micro RGB LEDs on the back of the panel. Each LED is less than 100 microns in size and can be independently controlled. Unlike traditional backlight solutions, this architecture enables precise control of each individual RGB LED.

"Micro RGB represents an unprecedented level of control over micron-scale RGB LEDs in the consumer market, pushing color accuracy and contrast to new heights," said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President and Head of the Visual Display Business R&D Team at Samsung Electronics. "With this launch, Samsung not only sets the standard for large-size ultra-premium displays, but also reaffirms our commitment to innovation in next-generation display technology."

Samsung Micro RGB features the Micro RGB AI Engine, which uses AI to fully optimize image and sound quality. This advanced technology analyzes images frame by frame in real time, automatically optimizing color output for a more realistic and immersive visual experience. Powered by this AI engine, the Micro RGB Color Enhancement Pro feature identifies areas of subdued color in the image and intelligently enhances the overall color gamut, making any source appear more vibrant and lifelike.

In addition, Samsung's Micro RGB Precision Color technology precisely controls color reproduction, ensuring accurate and vibrant color reproduction. It fully covers the BT.2020 standard color gamut defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), achieving 100% color gamut coverage. The TV has also received the "Micro RGB Precision Color" certification from the Association of German Electrical Engineers (VDE).

With anti-glare technology, Samsung Micro RGB significantly reduces reflections, even in bright environments, for a more comfortable and focused viewing experience. Its ultra-thin metal body features simple, sleek lines that blend effortlessly with any home style.

Samsung Micro RGB features Vision AI, integrating the latest AI picture quality and AI audio technologies. It also features a smarter Bixby voice assistant powered by generative AI, providing users with a more natural and personalized conversational experience, allowing them to explore their content without leaving the screen.

For security, Samsung Micro RGB is equipped with the industry-leading Samsung Knox security solution to fully protect sensitive user data. It also supports Samsung's seven-year free Tizen OS upgrade plan, ensuring continuous software updates and long-term support.

Micro RGB has been first launched in South Korea and will soon be available in China, offering a new high-end display option for users who demand a premium audio-visual experience.
