Vivo Vision can also be used by myopic users Official: Supports up to 1000 degrees

According to the latest official announcement from Hong Yi, General Manager of Vivo's Smart Device Products, Vivo's upcoming mixed reality headset, the Vivo Vision Explorer Edition, will offer groundbreaking support for users with myopia up to 1000 degrees, while also challenging industry perceptions with its ultra-lightweight design.

According to CNMO, the Vivo Vision Explorer Edition can be paired with a professional lens set, supporting up to 1000 degrees of myopia, addressing the pain points myopic users face when using headsets. Hong Yi stated explicitly on his personal Weibo account: "There's absolutely no need to worry about myopia issues." In fact, the Apple Vision Pro was previously criticized for not fully addressing the needs of users with high myopia, and Vivo's move fills a market gap.

Preview information indicates that the Vivo Vision Explorer Edition features a split-riveted design and a high-strength, lightweight magnesium alloy midframe. Through structural optimization, the device's overall volume is nearly 30% smaller than similar products. At approximately 380g, it's over 40% lighter than the Apple Vision Pro (which weighs up to 650g), significantly reducing the sense of oppression when worn for extended periods. Hong Yi stated that the project team was driven by "weight PTSD" and identified weight loss as a core user experience goal.

It is reported that vivo established a dedicated human factors laboratory to design highly adaptable hoods and straps for sensitive areas like the forehead and cheekbones, ensuring an "easy on" experience. Product Manager Han Boxiao reported during an internal user experience that the wearing experience was "comparable to headphones."

Other features include the vivo Vision Explorer Edition, which utilizes a unique "fusilliform folding lens layout" combined with a Micro-OLED and Pancake folded optical path, achieving a balance between visual clarity and lightweight design. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4nm chip, it supports eye tracking and gesture control, making it one of only two MR devices in the world to achieve this technology.

The vivo Vision launch event and imaging festival are scheduled for August 21st, with many predicting a price tag of "less than 20,000 yuan." It's worth noting that the Explorer Edition won't be publicly available until 2025, but in-store reservations will be available after the launch.
